What is Chiropractic Biophysics?
Chiropractic Biophysics is an advanced discipline within chiropractic, which is by far the most well researched method within the Chiropractic profession. It is based upon proven techniques that help to restore the spine back to better alignment and alleviate pain and discomfort at its source. There are currently over 200 peer reviewed research on CBP analysis, technique and patient outcomes.
Our founded, Dr Paul Irvine was first introduced to CBP in 2003, having had no prior knowledge or experience of it. Once he developed his new skills and knowledge, he found that patient results were superior to traditional methods, and that he could help with more difficult cases that traditional chiropractic hadn’t been successful in assisting.
CBP care consists of a package of specific treatment approaches which include:
- Mirror Image Posture Correction Exercises
- Mirror Image Posture Corrective Adjustments
- Corrective Spinal & Postural Traction for spinal remodelling
With CBP analysis of posture and x-rays we are able to precisely measure to see if a person does have posture and structural alignment within a normal range of a Ideal Postural model. When it is outside of normal limits and the patient is a candidate for CBP corrective care, a specific treatment plan can be designed. The plan is then routinely assessed and revised according to objective changes and the patient’s response.
Is Chiropractic biophysics effective?
While chiropractic biophysics alone is not sufficient as a methodology to halt the progression of, or correct, scoliosis there is a growing body of evidence which shows that chiropractic biophysics can play a valuable role in reducing pain and discomfort as well as supporting overall postural improvement in patients.
One line of argument is that postural misalignments contribute significantly to the development of scoliosis, and as a method for correcting postural issues CBP is ideally positioned to help.
Chiropractic biophysics at the UK Scoliosis Clinic
At the UK Scoliosis Clinic, Chiropractic biophysics is one of the methods which we draw on as part of a broader plan designed to correct scoliosis and associated postural problem. CBP is also one of our primary tools in addressing the immediate painful complaints which are typically associated with scoliosis in adults and young people.
Chiropractic biophysics treatment can also be a useful tool in improving range of motion and reducing stiffness in Hyperkyphosis cases and is an excellent approach to use in treating Scheuermann’s disease. Postural Hyperkyphosis can often be effectively resolved though CBP treatment.
